Yes, I loved managerial accounting. It was more logic and concept based, so if you understood the premise then you could easily complete the problems. Financial accounting is mostly memorization, imho. They’re a set of rules that frequently change and don’t usually have a overarching concept behind them. 1.

Accounting changed the way I consumed information and studied. I struggled with math because I could never see the flow of "numbers" and never got comfortable with anything past Algebra. It's not hard, but overwhelming at first because it's unlike any class from K-12.

Accounting is not intuitive for most. Most people think money in money out but don't naturally think about depreciation, accruals, ect. Combine this with the cumulative nature of accounting you get a situation where things may not naturally come to you and when they don't you very quickly get behind and now have to work 2 or 3 times harder to get caught up.

Accounting on the job is hard (speaking from the client services side, don't know about being in-house) because you have to figure out from a bunch of numbers/incomplete data what is going on with the company and explain it to people inside or outside of the firm more coherently than some of the executives that have been there for years.

I just understood Financial Accounting, but the transition to Managerial is really killing me. I'm studying a lot and try to understand relevant concepts, but it's just not clicking for me as much it did for Financial. As an Accounting major in a school with a very rigorous Accounting program, I'm really worried because I'm trying to make this my career path.

Financial is harder....managerial is quite easy if you are any decent at accounting. You don't hear nearly as many people complaining about BEC (managerial) as you do FAR (financial). I think managerial is much more intuitive than financial

Passed 4/4 3 months ago. I haven’t done it for the CPA yet. But Cost Accounting class was the biggest punch in the face I had in college. Midterms of that semester was my lowest point. BUT, it got better once I put the work in. IMO the biggest barrier of cost is separating yourself mentally from financial/gaap. Good Luck! 2. level 2.
